In the place where Willow sleeps
When I was growing up, we had a tradition at Easter. My parents would put together a scavenger hunt for us to find our chocolate.
High in a tree where the birds find seeds
We looked forward to this every year – the four of us gathered around the slips of paper to see who could guess the location of the next clue.
Look under the stairs – you’ll find a clue there
The clues were my mother’s words, short and poetic. (The examples here are, um, not reflective of her talent.)
We’d walk around the house, up and down, inside and out, following clues to places only we would know. When we got to the end, we’d find baskets with colourful ribbon, miniature chocolate eggs and delicious milky bunnies. (I always ate the ears off first, then ruthlessly bit off their noses.)
We enjoyed it so much we did a hunt one year when it was just my husband, my parents and I. (My husband created the hunt and we had to go all over town. He got a little carried away and it took us several hours to complete.) I’m looking forward to doing an Easter scavenger hunt like this with Connor. It helps if your kid(s) can read, but I’m thinking we can probably do it this year by creating clues he’ll be able to guess and reading them to him. I’ve already got colourful paper Easter eggs and have only held off buying chocolate because I’m concerned someone (ahem, husband) might eat it before Easter.
There’s some new Easter chocolate this year, which I first found out about when given the opportunity to write about chocolate by Nestle. (Chocolate? You don’t have to ask me twice…) Then a day or so later I saw a display in the grocery store near us. It seriously challenged my intention of holding off buying chocolate until closer to Easter. (Okay, I’ll be honest – I bought some. In fact, I’m eating one now.)
Well, come on. I mean, a little chocolate lamb? Too cute. But not too cute to eat. See? This is new new very Bubbly Aero lamb. “An adorably delicious new way to experience the JOY of AERO,” as it’s described. No kidding. Those little green bubbles are YUM.
AERO Canada also has Sweet Easter Sendables for you to play around with. I think Connor looks pretty good as a bunny, don’t you?
There’s a contest going on right now where you can submit your Easter-ized family photo for a chance to win a supply of AERO lambs. Want to turn your kid into a bunny or lamb? Of course you do. Check out the AERO Canada Facebook page to enter.
For more fun you can create other adorable cards by visiting SMARTIES Canada and KIT KAT Canada Facebook fan pages.
Once you’ve done that, come back and give me some suggestions for scavenger hunt poetry. Clearly I need the help.
